About The Mount Albert Bowling Club

We are a vibrant community brought together by the enjoyment of the game of Bowls.

The Mount Albert Bowling Club was founded in 1897 and is located at 10 Allendale Road in the heart of Mount Albert.

Our historic site is part of Mount Albert’s heritage and is widely used for lawn bowls and a variety of recreational and sporting activities. We are as committed as ever to providing a strong club to our growing membership base and welcome new activities like pool, darts, table tennis and community quiz nights.

We are proud to have the Garlick family as our Patrons, who kindly donated the grounds to the club early on in our history.

We are proud to be a grassroots sports club in Mount Albert with a strong and growing player base in both competition and social bowls.

We are always on the lookout for new talent, so if you are a bowler in Auckland and want to try us out come along to our Club nights every Thursday year round, meet our members and find out why Mt Albert Bowling Club could be the right club for you.

If you are new to lawn bowls you are welcome to visit during our Club nights on Thursday year round, our members will gladly help you get to know the game of bowls.

Our History

On September 15th, 1897, just down the road at Ferndale House, the home of Mr Tonson Garlick, a meeting was held among those of the district who were interested in forming a bowling club. The meeting unanimously resolved to form the Mount Albert Bowling Club.
